Name:DBA and walkover survey - proposed Beinneun windfarm
Organisation:Arcus Renewable Energy Consulting Ltd
Date:Oct 2010

An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in 2010 by Arcus Renewable Energy Consultancy Ltd behalf of RidgeWind Ltd of land at Beinneun, Highlands in advance of a proposed wind farm development. The study area was located at NGR NS 83691 83548 (centred) approximately 8 km north west of Invergarry. The proposed development site covered 5.3 km². The land is currently a mountainous area of undeveloped upland. The desk-based assessment was conducted to establish the baseline information regarding archaeology in the proposed development area and a surrounding 1km study area. A walkover survey was also completed, during which the site of each proposed turbine was visited and a general walkover was also conducted to assess the site for any potentially undiscovered archaeological features. The assessment revealed that there are very few features situated within the study area of the proposed development site. There were also no Listed Buildings, Scheduled Monuments or other designated sites of national importance situated within the study area. <1>

The report was subsequently incorporated into an Environmental Statement to support the planning application for the windfarm. <2>
