Name:DBA and walkover survey - proposed Beinn Tharsuinn Wind Farm access route
Organisation:Glasgow University (GUARD)
Date:Oct 2001

A walkover survey was carried out by GUARD in 2001 in advance of the development of a windfarm site at Beinn Tharsuinn to identify and evaluate known and potential archaeology sites, the impact on any of these sites by the windfarm, and to suggest mitigation strategies should any sites be discovered. This followed a survey over the site of the wind farm itself (see EHG717) and covered the route of the proposed access track from the B9176 to the north of the proposed wind farm and followed the eastern bank of the Easter Fearn Burn. The route continued along the east side of the burn for approximately 3.5km, then crossed at the watershed to run along the lower slopes of the Meall a'Bhreacain. A single trapezoidal enclosure, defined by a substantial earthen bank, was recorded. <1>

Further work was conducted in 2005 - see EHG1270.
