Full Description

An Archaeological Survey of Fassfern Estate revealed several features. Evidence for charcoal burning in the plantation areas are difficult to confirm but it is possible that some of the more level areas were used.
A small area of cultivation and a simple structure were found to the north of Craigag Lodge. These were thought to belong to a small croft or farm, est. before the Lodge was built.
The dykes to the west of Coile Tom Ruadh may be an earlier version of woodland enclosure, replaced by the enclosure recorded as extant in 1872. They are unlikely to be connected with folding stock or arable cultivation.
See Report Library No. 863.
