Five shooting butts were noted during a walkover survey carried out by RoCAS in 2013 in advance of a woodland creation scheme at Killiehuntly. The first was a turf-built U-shaped shooting butt that measured 3.5m northwest to southeast by 1.5m with banks spread 1.5-2m wide and up to 0.8m high. The entrance was to the southeast. The second was a turf-built U-shaped shooting butt that measured 2.5m northwest to southeast by 1.5m with banks spread 2m wide and up to 1m high. The entrance was to the east-southeast. The third was a stone or turf-built U-shaped shooting butt that measured 4.5m north-northwest to south-southeast by 2m with banks spread 1.5-2m wide and up to 0.8m high. The entrance was to the east. The fourth was a stone or turf-built U-shaped shooting butt that measured 4m north to south by 1.8m with banks spread 1.5-2m wide and up to 0.7m high. The entrance was to the east. The final feature was a stone or turf-built U-shaped shooting butt that measured 4m north to south by 1.8m with banks spread 1.5-2m wide and up to 0.7m high.
