Full Description

The remains of two shielings seen during a rapid walkover survey by M Wildgoose in 2002 in advance of a proposed woodland creation scheme. They lay at the foot of east facing cliffs at the west end of the WGS proposal. The northern shieling was a single celled, boulder built structure which measured 4m by 5m overall. The southern, more disturbed structure, was either a twin-celled shieling or a small Cotters house. The remains measured 10m by 4m overall. A short length of turf boundary runs from the northern shieling to the base of the cliff. <1>
