Caithness Archaeological Trust
Caithness, the most northerly county in mainland Britain, is incredibly rich in prehistoric and historic monuments and landscapes. From the peaty interior to the staggering coastline, evidence of early people's lives can still be seen and visited today.
Instituted in 1875 and still going strong. "While still keeping faith with the indefatigable questing spirit of our predecessors, today's Field Club hopes, by this varied range of activities, to stimulate an interest in, and an understanding of, our local environment, history and heritage" There are meetings throughout the year and Summer study excursions are organised to all parts of the Highlands. Members' interests are very varied, covering natural history, geology and local history.
Moidart is a remote and beautiful coastal area of the Scottish West Highlands with a long and complex history. The Moidart Local History Group, (Comann Eachdraidh Mùideart), exists to promote an active interest in the history, heritage and culture of Moidart and to bring together interested individuals and organisations.
North of Scotland Archaeological Society
The North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NOSAS) exists to further the study of archaeology in the North of Scotland and to promote that interest to a wider audience. NOSAS events are a great chance to meet like minded people and share ideas and information.
