Ardnamurchan Transitions Project
The Ardnamurchan Transitions Project is a collaborative project between the Universities of Manchester and Newcastle. The project aims to investigate evidence for the Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age periods (from about 9000 to 1000 BC) on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, and the nature of the transitions between these crucial periods.
This is the website for the ongoing work at Uamh an Ard Achadh (High Pasture Cave) on the Isle of Skye. Archaeological fieldwork at the cave site since the initial discovery in 2002 has included survey and excavation, both within the cave passages and on the surface, where a fascinating complex of prehistoric stone-built structures have been identified.
Brora salt pans community excavation
The Brora saltpans community archaeology project is a partnership between the Clyne Heritage Society and the SCAPE Trust. The excavations are staffed almost entirely by volunteers from Brora and the local area. Community participation and support is at the heart of the project’s achievements.
