Bogside of Brodie, Nairn
Kirsty,
I haven’t yet been able to follow the site up in detail, sadly, as I never resolved agreement from both tenant and owner to get geophysics done – and now have no money left for this (though if there’s any hidden pots in Highland Council, I could reinvigorate it…).
Our work was very small scale – essentially an evening’s trial pitting at and around the findspot to see if there was any archaeology around (which there was). There’s no written report on it, as I’d hoped to build a bigger thing round it. I can write a report up, but it’ll be in a long queue … I think I had sent John Wood a specific grid reference for the findspot, though with the request that it wasn’t advertised publically to avoid potential damage from detectorists. One of my local volunteers did fieldwalk the area after ploughing, with no significant finds, but I think from the find, our test-pits and the location there’s a good chance of a settlement there.
I’ve put the file in a pile on my desk, and will try to write a summary of what we did. Remind me if the delay gets too long!
Cheers
Fraser
