WELCOME TO THE HIGHLAND HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT RECORD
The Highland Historic Environment Record (HER) contains information about tens of thousands of historic buildings, archaeological sites and finds dating from earliest prehistory through to the present day. The complete HER database is available online through these web pages, along with thousands of linked documents and images.
The online HER is fully searchable using the interactive map. Every month we feature the latest new sites and fieldwork reports on our New Additions pages. Other interesting resources include themed articles and heritage trails.
We are constantly adding to and improving the HER and we are always pleased to receive new information. If you know of a site that isn't on the HER, or if you have photographs or other information that you would like to see included, then please contact us.
