Description

Stuart Farrell was commissioned by CKD Galbraith on behalf of Dell Estate in December 2003 to undertake an archaeological pre-determination evaluation at Cnoc an T-Sionnaich, Whitebridge (centred at NH 487/149) due to being situated close to a hut circle as part of a proposed housing development. Highland Council Archaeology Unit produced a specification for this work. Work revealed that the hut circle was not a hut circle but a circular sheepfold and possibly associated with it were another triangular shaped enclosure, a rectangular building and a small pen. Machine excavation of 9 trenches in the area of the proposed house plots and access road revealed no archaeological deposits or features only natural ground.
