EHG2876 - Desk based assessment and walkover survey - Borve to Edinbane Water Main Renewal

Technique(s)

Organisation

Highland Archaeology Services Ltd

Date

Oct 2007

Description

A desk based assessment and walkover survey was conducted by Highland Archaeology Services in 2007 to establish as far as possible the nature and extent of any archaeology likely to be affected by the construction of a new water main between Borve and Edinbane on the Isle of Skye. A number of post-medieval farmsteads, crofting township remains, and areas of rig cultivation were identified on the ground. A watching brief was recommended to cover construction work in the key areas. Most of the new water main would be unlikely to affect archaeological remains, but one area of sensitivity was identified in Borve. <1>
