Description

As part of RCAHMS's Scotland's Rural Past initiative, Historic Assynt carried out field survey work at Clashmore township in May 2007. One typical smallholding (A) was surveyed in detail at 1:100 and all the similar units were measured, sketched and compared with this one. Two non-typical complexes were also surveyed in detail, B at 1:100 and C at 1:200. In addition, a small cottar house on the far northwest edge of the settlement (T), which was later converted into a fank, was also surveyed at 1:100. A number of other features were located across this area but were not surveyed in detail. <1><2>
