Date

Description

A trial trench evaluation was conducted on the site of proposed on-site borrow pit for the Kilbraur Wind Farm. A prior walkover survey was undertaken to check for the presence of upstanding earthworks. The evaluation entailed a 5 percent sample of the 2ha development area. Sixteen trenches were excavated, where ground conditions permitted, covering 832 square metres. The trenches were excavated through varying depths of peat with the gleyed mineral soil reaching an average depth of 0.35m below the ground surface. The remains of two clearance cairns were recorded at the south-east margins of the borrow pit area. <1>
