EHG3182 - Desk-based assessment of land at Craig Wood, Dingwall North

Technique(s)

Organisation

Highland Archaeology Services Ltd

Date

October 2009

Description

A desk based assessment was undertaken for a proposed housing site at Craig Wood, Tulloch, Dingwall. There are no recorded archaeological features which might be affected directly, but middens and stone tool working sites have been found further along the same hillside beyond the Allt na Laitch, and there is some potential for similar material to be found here. The report recommends that a watching brief be carried out on initial topsoil clearance. <1> It should be noted that an evaluation by trial trenching has been recommended by the HC Archaeologist due to the potential for prehistoric remains to be present on the site. <2>
