Description

Highland Archaeology Services were commissioned by SSE to undertake a watching brief on tree felling and other site preparation works within an area of woodland adjoining the new electricity substation at Balblair Quarry, Beauly. An initial walkover survey revealed 2 hut circles and 2 cairns which had been partly evaluated by GUARD in September 2010 but not fully excavated; and another cairn and hut circle outside (W) of the GUARD evaluation area. Post-medieval field clearance heaps were also noted. No further work was carried out. <1> <2>
