Description

A resistivity survey was carried out in 2012 at the traditional site of St Donan's Monastery, Kildonan, Eigg, under the direction of J Hunter. It was undertaken in Area C, the area of the oval graveyard at the south end of the site, to complement that originally carried out in 2008 (see EHG). The responses were badly distorted by burials, but it was possible to interpret parts of the sub-circular enclosure. However, the structural remains encountered in a subsequent excavation trench (Trench 5) were not apparent. Curiously, the data suggested the presence of a linear feature, presumably a wall aligned east/west, lying immediately to the south of the enclosure. <1>
