Description

This report details the findings of the archaeological works carried out during construction of a new section of dual carriageway for the A9 between Kincraig and Dalraddy. The works were required in order to identify any archaeological remains exposed in areas of new land take; to undertake an appropriate level of excavation and recording where remains were encountered; and to support the adoption of specific mitigation measures set out in an Environmental Statement prepared in 2013. Fieldwork was carried out between August 2015 and February 2016. In total, eighteen previously unknown archaeological sites were recorded, consisting mainly of pits and linear features. Field drains were also noted across the site. <1>
