Technique(s)

Organisation

AOC Archaeology Group

Date

June 2018

Description

An archaeological test pit evaluation carried out at Loch Leven Hotel, North Ballachulish in advance of the installation of camping pods and a patio area. The evaluation was required due to the presence of significant archaeological finds within the area. Fieldwork was carried out on 26th June 2018. Four test pits were excavated across two of the proposed camping pod footprints and in the patio area. The evaluation confirmed the development site to be located in an area heavily disturbed by modern activity. No finds or features of archaeological significance were recorded. Various deposits of modern origin to a depth of at least 0.52m confirmed groundbreaking work for the camping pods will not impact on any surviving archaeological deposits. No further archaeological monitoring is recommended. <1>
