Date

March 2019

Description

An archaeological photographic survey was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2019 of the existing steading at land southwest of Culchunaig Farmhouse, Westhill, in advance of its conversion to form a dwelling house and the erection of outbuildings. There was a substantial amount of building debris and some vegetation obscuring the east elevation of the back wing within the inner courtyard, which restricted the photographic record of this part of the building. The first floor of the building was not accessible and was therefore not surveyed. It was recommended that further photographs of this elevation be taken once the debris and vegetation has been cleared away and prior to any works being carried out to the building. A metal detector survey (see EHG5487) and a trial trenching evaluation (see EHG5489) were also undertaken. <1>
