Description

A watching brief was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2021 covering work on new silt pools at Laggan, Spean Bridge, Highland. The work was undertaken to fulfil a planning condition put in place due to the site being within the designated battlefield ‘The Battle of the Shirts’ fought in 1544. The watching brief recorded 10 features within the excavated areas. These included eight linear features thought to be the base of rig and furrow, a modern track as well as two small rough charcoal rich pits. Although samples were taken the small isolated nature of these pits reduces the value of this material and no further work is recommended for this site. <1>
