Organisation

Nick Lindsay

Date

Sept 2021

Description

An archaeological desk-based study and walkover survey was carried out by N Lindsay in 2021 of the track corridor leading to, and within the Sydney Forest Complex forestry plantation, near Lairg, Sutherland. The survey was required by Brook Forestry Ltd in order to establish the extent of archaeological remains along the route of existing forest road and track in advance of maintenance works. The Sydney Forest Complex is situated approximately 2-5km north east and east of the village of Lairg in central Sutherland. The survey located fifteen archaeological features/sites, nine of which had not previously been recorded. All were recorded in detail. All archaeological sites along the route of the track will be taped off to avoid encroachment of the identified archaeology, especially important in the case of the tripartite scheduled monument adjacent to the track. <1>
