EHG618 - Watching brief - Lower Achnagairn, Kirkhill

Technique(s)

Organisation

Janet Hooper

Date

Oct 2001

Description

A watching brief was undertaken by J Hooper in 2001 in advance of the construction of a house at Lower Achnagairn, Kirkhill. The work entailed the watching of topsoil stripping in the area of the house and garden and the mechanical excavation of two slot trenches, each 1.6m wide. The trenches were excavated to assess the nature of the subsoil at either end of the house plot. No features of archaeological significance were noted and the chosen site for the house appeared to be a natural gravel mound. <1>
