This substantial circular stone hut, measuring 4m in diameter and which lies close to a hydro pole, was found by T Doe in 2006. <1>

184314 871979 Bad Na Scalaig 2 (Na Doireachan) AMC132: The structure was visited by A MacInnes in 2010 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross for A Welti. The circular stone structure is situated in a small dip in the north facing gently sloping hillside. From the site there are panoramic views inland. The platform is dug into and built out from the slope. There are some very large boulders in the walls. Moss and bracken submerge the walling. Average inner diameter is 4m, outer diameter is 6.4m. The double skinned wall is 1.1m thick with maximum height 0.8m. The entrance faces east and is 1m wide externally and 0.8m wide internally. Passage length is 0.8m. A small enclosure lies to west. To east is an area of bracken with field clearance piles. This bracken area lies between this structure and AMC131 (see MHG49717) at 300m distance. A hydro pole is set into a knoll to northwest. <2> <3>

[Note: a database was set up as part of research for the dissertation and was subsequently expanded as an extension of the We Digs Project (see website link below). The full access database can be made available to enquirers/researchers if requested - contact HER for details].

Note: NGR adjusted to position as seen on 2009 vertical APs [IS-L 14/06/2017].
