Full Description

A substantial, well built, mortared building was recorded during an NTS pre-afforestation survey of Kintail and West Affric in 1997. It was is situated E of Glenlichd House and to the S of a drystone enclosure some 30m by 20m in area. The building measured c10m by c5m over walls c0.7m wide and stood to gable and roof height. The W end of the building had vertical slits for ventilation whereas the E end had a window. There was a cobbled frontage c1.5m wide along its N side. This building is not shown on the 1874 OS map, though another is shown to the NW.
This was presumably the stables for the ponies used during stalking from Glenlichd. It could also have held a cow for the stalker/shepherd presumed resident here. <1>
