Full Description

A black bead was found fieldwalking, close to the position of two cairns at Cantraybruich. It was found within an area of a more extensive scatter of worked flint and quartz. It measured 16.8mm by 14.4mm with a thickness of 7.9mm and was identified by x-ray fluorescence spectrometry to be made of cannel coal. The closest parallels in material and shape are of Late Bronze Age date, although a later date cannot be ruled out for it. <1>
