Full Description

A hut circle at Hillton (Balnafoich).

A hut circle measuring c.12m in diameter, into the northern arc of which a telegraph pole has been inserted, lies c.48m to the southeast of Knottywood Cottage, near Balnafoich, Farr. It is visible on vertical aerial photographs. <1> <2>

This feature and its location would fit the description of a hut circle described by Woodham in 1963 but given a grid reference some 150m to the southeast (see MHG3525) and which couldn't be found at that location by the OS Field Investigator the same year [IS-L 17/02/2022].

The feature is visible in the centre of an oblique photograph supplied as part of a photographic record for a building to its immediate southwest. <3>
