Located beside closed community hall. Now included within Strathnaver Trail as site 10. Modern stone plinth enclosing upright brass plaque with text. Trail guide describes "this monument originally at Syre commemorates the rasing of a famous regiment - the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders". - HAW 4/2004
