Full Description

A walkover survey was carried out by John Wombell, Anne Coombs and other members of the North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NOSAS) in April 2013 over 2.5 days of an area of Dirr Wood near Dorres. This investigation was carried out to try and put the then recently discovered late Bronze Age hoard at Dores into context with potential sites in the surrounding landscape. The remains of two structures, one was described as the roughly circular stone footings of a small building, measuring 1.5m internally and 3.5m externally, with a possible entrance to the north west. The second was described as a stone bank and a stone pile possibly representing a collapsed structure [Feature number ARTF186 and ARTF188]. These structures were of an unknown date. <1>
