EHG3318 - Evaluation at Kinakyle Township, Aviemore Water Treament Works

Technique(s)

Organisation

Glasgow University (GUARD)

Date

April 2008

Description

The evaluation of a series of structures known as Kinakyle township, which lies within the proposed bounds of the new Aviemore Water Treatment Works (AWTW), was carried out following a survey of the township. The programme of work comprised trial excavation of the remains of five of the buildings located at the site. Results from the trial trenching indicate that substantial and well preserved remains of eighteenth and early nineteenth century occupation of the township have survived and help to cast light on the later history of settlement of the Badenoch area. <1>
