Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
July 2015
Description
An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2015 on behalf of Muirden Energy on the site of a proposed wind farm located at Drum Hollistan, near Reay in Caithness. The aim of the survey was to identify and assess the nature and extent of any archaeology likely to be directly affected by the proposed development in order to inform recommendations for the protection and management of any sites identified. Nine archaeological sites were recorded. <1>
This survey was used as a source for an environmental statement, submitted in 2016. <2>
A second environmental statement including the results of the 2015 walkover survey was submitted in 2020 for a smaller wind farm on the site, following the rejection of the previous application by Scottish Ministers. <3>
