EHG5708 - DBA and walkover survey - proposed Limekiln Wind Farm grid connection
Technique(s)
Organisation
Catherine Dagg
Date
Jan-July 2018
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey was carried out by C Dagg in January 2018, for the proposed route of a grid connection to the proposed Limekiln Wind Farm development. The assessment and survey covered all potential route options, including those subsequently scoped out of theproposed development. A further walkover took place in July 2018 to identify all previously unrecorded archaeological features within areas not previously subjected to detailed archaeological survey along the proposed development alignment. The study area to locate and define archaeological features with the potential for direct impacts was formed by the location of the proposed development infrastructure, which was set as a 200 m wide corridor, corresponding with the initial design Limit of Deviation (LOD). All sites identified with statutory protection in the broad development area of the scheme were considered for potential indirect, visual impacts. The study area for indirect impacts was 2km from the proposed development, but increased eastwards to capture the effects on SMs located on the Hill of Shebster. Two previously unrecorded archaeological sites were identified in the July survey. <1>
