Description
A watching brief was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2022 during the construction of a proposed housing development on land to the north-east of Birchwood Artafallie, North Kessock, Black Isle. The archaeological fieldwork consisted of a watching brief during the initial groundworks for the building footprint including the surrounding working area, as well as a shallow strip within the topsoil for a connecting access track between the building plot and the existing track. During the watching brief no significant archaeological features or finds were discovered. A natural gully ran through the centre of the site, which contained wet and peaty ground. This gully appeared to be naturally formed and showed no evidence of human construct. Given the negative results no further archaeological fieldwork or post-excavation analysis was recommended. <1>
