Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 during erection of a new house extension at Finlaggan at Redcastle, near Muir of Ord, Inverness-shire. The site was located adjacent to a church and burial ground. The foundations were excavated as trench slots extending c. 10m x 5m and each slot measuring c.0.75m wide and up to 0.7m deep. The material encountered consisted of redeposited, mixed soil and clay subsoil with modern debris, comprising infill material associated with construction work for the existing house. As such there was no potential for buried archaeological remains and no further work was recommended. <1>
