Description

An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2019 at Totachocaire, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye in advance of a woodland planting scheme. The survey was required in order to assess and record the nature and extent of any upstanding archaeology affected by the proposed development. The walkover survey identified a total of 65 archaeological sites which comprised two prehistoric hut circles as well as numerous medieval and post-medieval farmsteads, shielings, enclosures, dykes and cultivation remains. Mitigation measures were recommended to safeguard the sites during woodland planting. <1>
