Date

Description

A trial trenching evaluation was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2023 in advance of the development of two dwelling properties at Blairninich, Strathpeffer. Eleven trenches were opened within the footprint of the houses and other areas which were to be excavated during the project. One archaeological feature, which comprised a ditch which is likely to be of a modern date and two field drains were revealed. The base of a modern glass bottle and a sherd of modern pottery were recovered from one of the field drains but no other artefacts were found. As no artefacts or suitable dating material was found in the ditch no further archaeological work was recommended. <1>
