Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2023 in respect of a new house and access at land 35m northwest of Grianaig, Kensaleyre, Highland. The development included construction of an access track, new house and associated services. Topsoil was removed by machine with a completed area observed totalling approximately 930m². This area covered the footprint of the new house, garage and associated services. Excavation for the access track remained above archaeological depth and was built up to meet the bell mouth access onto the A87. Despite the potential for buried archaeology, the watching brief at Kensaleyre revealed no archaeological features or deposits. Due to the absence of archaeological evidence, no further archaeological work was recommended. <1>
