EHG6278 - Watching brief - mains rehabilitation, Kinlochleven

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2021 during the replacement of water main pipes within Kinlochleven and Kinlochmore. Approximately 4.8km of old asbestos concrete (AC) mains were to be replaced overall, with approximately 720m of the replacement pipe trench running along the length of Wades 18th century military road. The watching brief was required in order to establish the presence/absence of Wades Road towards the eastern extents of the pipe replacement where any potential archaeology is less likely to have been disturbed by services and utilities. Fieldwork was carried out intermittently between 2nd – 24th November 2021. No significant archaeological features were identified during the works. No further archaeological work was recommended. <1>
