Full Description

Samples were taken from a heap of iron slag, smaller than NH37SE 2, but also lying on a slight hillock N of the Allt Ruadh. They were not submitted for dating.
J Wordsworth 1993a. <1>

Another dump also heavily overgrown was found farther east from MHG18085 on a low knoll at c270mOD overlooking the junction of the Allt Ruadh and a tributary. It was c. 3m in diameter and contained quantities of slag and charcoal. At both sites the material was mixed with a rich loam which suggested that it had been partially sorted by worms and moles. <2>

A sample of slag from the site was disclaimed by Treasure Trove in 2004 and subsequently acquired by Inverness Museum. It is listed under Acc. No. 2004.047. <3>
