Full Description
There are a number of small clearance heaps of stone on either side of the track from the modern (not whalebone) gate. Several of these include modern material, so likely to have been created when the new access gate was put in and the wall on the A9 side upgraded. Water supply runs down the E side of this track to trough, so this also will have caused disturbance. No obvious early features above ground in this area. <1>
This area was walked over by an archaeologist prior to construction of an agricultural shed in October 2011. Field clearance heaps were noted but none were close to the area to be cleared or the trackway within the entrance area. It was not possible to photograph the site as existing. No features were noted during the subsequent watching brief. <2>
