Full Description

8 well defined cups and one possible cups in a triangular shaped group on the top surface of a flat topped earthfast boulder, 1.7m N/S x 1.2m x 0.7m high. The cups are in the NE corner of the boulder. This is one a group of twelve stones mostly situated on two knolls. All the stones in this group will be recorded in detail as part of the Ross-shire Rock Art project taking place 2009-2011. <1>

This panel was recorded as part of the ScRAP (Scotland’s Rock Art project) by members of NoSAS in November 2017. The panel lies on a gentle south facing slope in dense planted coniferous trees. Without the trees there would be extensive views over the Black Water valley to the south. It lies about 50m from the track to the southwest and also about 50m from Rogie 19 which is situated on the end of the ridge to the northwest. It has been approached by following a compass bearing from both these points.

The panel is a heart-shaped rock measuring 1.8 x 1.4m. It has a flat surface sloping gently to southeast, with its highest point 0.7m above current ground level. The surface is smooth with lineation to the east. There are 8 cupmarks in a cluster at the highest point in the northwest corner and 2 further cups south of the central part of rock. <2>
