Full Description

At NG 3962 6867 on a NW-facing slope, is a circular stone-walled hut measuring c. 9.5m in diameter between the centres of a wall spread to c. 3.5m all round. Several outer wall facing stones can be seen in the SE. The E arc is clipped by a track. The 'simple' entrance in the W is flanked by two earth-fast stones 1.0m apart. The interior of the hut has filled up with peat emphasising the way that the hut is laid on the slope rather than being set into it.
Visited by OS (C F W) 1 June 1961 and (R L) 9 September 1971.

The hut circle was subject to topographic survey, and the area around it included in a watching brief by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 prior to and during initial groundworks for the new Kilmuir water treatment works. <1>

NGR adjusted to position as seen on 2009 vertical APs. <2>
