Full Description

Ruin of a stone-built house, wih the remains of an earlier turf-built strcuture beneath it at Glen Ose, Skye. It was recorded during a walkover survey by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey in 2001 in advance of the proposed Edinbane Wind Farm development. It is part of the Glen Ose township (see MHG5070).

Site B: The remains of a rectangular, stone built, structure with rounded outer and square inner corners. This building lies on an east – west alignment and measures 8m long by 5m wide over walls 1.1m thick. A door opening lies in the eastern end wall. There are no visible partitions and no sign of a hearth or fire-place. There are traces of an earlier, turf built, structure on the same alignment at both the east and west ends. The earlier structure appears to be of the same build as the turf dykes which abut its east and west ends. The stone ‘house’ is probably a later construction. <1> <2>
