Full Description
Three shieling huts at Glen Ose (Glen Ullinish), Skye. They were recorded during a walkover survey by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey in 2001 in advance of the proposed Edinbane Wind Farm development.
Site I: On the summit of a grassy rise just to the west of a small burn are the remains of 3, single cell, turf and stone shielings. All 3 structures, which lie in line on a north-south alignment, survive as grassy ring-banks with some evidence of stonework visible. <1> <2>
NOTE: The NGR given for this site in <1> is inaccurate and places the site much too far to the north, though it's location is shown correclty on the maps in the report.
