Full Description

A shieling hut at Glen Ose (Glen Ullinish), Skye. It was recorded during a walkover survey by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey in 2001 in advance of the proposed Edinbane Wind Farm development.

Site L: On the east bank of the Allt Ruairidh and just west of the modern wire fence are the remains of a single cell turf and stone shieling. <1> <2>

NOTE: the grid reference for this site in <1> appears to be incorrect as there is nothing at that location in vertical aerial photography that looks like the plan or the description in the report. However, there is a feature c.100m to the southeast that does appear to correspond with the plan and description and this location has been used instead [IS-L 02/08/2024].
