Full Description
A possible large hut circle at Langwell. The feature is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2009 as a partial circular earthwork and veetation mark measuring up to c.18m in diameter, similar in size to the adjacent large hut circle to the east (see MHG2427). It has been partly built over by a building (see MHG28685) and partially flattened by tracks. It also better coincides with the earthwork labelled 'Picts Houses' on the OS 1st Edition 6" map, rather than the more obvious aforementioned hut circle to the east. <1>
NOTE: This feature was not seen or recorded during a pre-forestry walkover survey by Headland Archaeology in 1998 (see EHG4807) [IS-L 08/08/2024].
