Full Description

NH69NE 11 centred 665 987.

At NH 6661 9877 and NH 6642 9871, on a S-facing hillside, are two hut circles (A and B respectively). Both huts are heather-covered and ill-preserved.
'A', on a slight rise, measures approximately 9.5m by 8.0m within a wall reduced to a rubble spread at most pronounced 2.0m broad and 0.2m high. The entrance is in the SE, on the line of the long axis.
'B', built up on and set back into the slope, is reduced to a platform measuring some 9.0m NW-SE by 8.0m. There are no other surviving details. Contemporary land use is denoted by a scatter of field clearance heaps on the down-slope S from hut 'A'.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 29 August 1980.

DBAs and walkover surveys were carried out by CFA Archaeology Ltd in November 2002 and April 2003 in advance of a proposed wind farm development at Cambusmore Estate, near Bonar Bridge, Sutherland.

Site 19: Corresponds to NMRS site NH69NW 11b. At the NGR cited are the poorly preserved remains of a hut circle. The feature is identifiable only as a level platform, with an apron in the south aspect up to 0.3m high. The NMRS records contemporary land-use denoted by field clearance heaps on the down-slope south from site 18. No evidence was found for these during this field survey. <1>
