Are all your records available online?

The Highland HER started life as a paper record and was computerised in the mid 1990s. All the information we have received since that date has been entered in the database, but the information in the old paper files has not been entered in full. In an effort to address this, the entire contents of the paper files have been scanned and linked to the database records and are now available to view through this site. The only exceptions are certain documents containing personal information which cannot be published online due to data protection restrictions.

The entire HER database is available online, including all the information we hold about archaeological sites and buildings (known collectively as monuments) and fieldwork (known as events). Some of the information we hold is not yet in a suitable format for publishing on the web and we are busy converting these files. So if you believe we hold additional information that isn't currently available online then please get in touch with us.
