Description
Tain was originally designated as a Conservation Area by the former Ross and Cromarty County Council with effect from 25/11/1974. The designation was formally advertised in the Edinburgh Gazette on 13/12/1974.
A Conservation Area Character Appraisal was carried out in 2016 and updated in 2020-2021 which recommended the enlargement of the area. The changes were agreed and adopted by the Highland Council (as de-designation and simultaneous re-designation) with effect from 01/09/2021. A Conservation Area Management Plan was also produced. The simultaneous cancellation of the existing Conservation Area and re-designation of the new one was published in the Edinburgh Gazette on 08/10/2021.
