EHG1106 - Woodside of Culloden, 1 & 2
Technique(s)
Organisation
Stuart Farrell
Date
April 2004
Description
Stuart Farrell was commissioned by Cameron & Ross Consulting Engineers in April 2004 to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Woodside, Culloden (centred at NH 717 / 447) on behalf of Aviemore & Highland Developments Ltd as part of a proposed housing development. Highland Council Archaeology Unit produced a specification for this work.
Work revealed no archaeological features or deposits of interest, the only finds made were of some rubble and tile field drains. The lack of archaeological features in the development area is most likely due to the overall site lying on a NW facing slope and that the area was possibly only used for farming since the late 18th century.
