EHG1107 - Woodside of Culloden

Technique(s)

Organisation

Stuart Farrell

Date

April 2004

Description

Stuart Farrell was commissioned by Barratt Construction Ltd in March 2004 to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Woodside, Culloden (centred at NH 716/451) as part of a proposed housing development. Highland Council Archaeology Unit produced a specification for this work. Work revealed no archaeological features or deposits of interest, the only finds made were of some rubble and tile field drains and a couple of tree boles. The lack of archaeological features in the development area is most likely due to the overall site lying on a NW facing slope and that the area was possibly only used for farming since the late 18th / early 19th century.
